Nestled in the Baba Budan hills, Chikmagalur is a calm, serene town full of scenic surprises - hills, valleys, streams and snow-white coffee blossoms. Situated 251 kms from Bangalore, Chikmagalur is a trekker's delight, with its rugged mountain trails. Coffee was introduced into India through the Chikmagalur district when the first coffee crop was grown in the Baba Budan Giri Hills during 1670 AD. The prime tourist attractions include: Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary (Muthodi), Kallathagiri Water Falls, Hebbe Falls, Kudremukh, Kemmanagundi etc.

    Geography : Chikmagalur District, internationally renowned for its coffee literally means 'The Younger Daughter's Town' and encompasses an area of 7,201 sq. km. The district spans across the latitudinal parallels of 12� 54' 42''and 13� 53' 53'' north and the longitudinal meridians of 75� 04' 46'' and 76� 21' 50'' east.     Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary (Muthodi): 38 kms northwest, this sanctuary is a must-see for wildlife enthusiasts. Gaur, Chital, Sambar, Elephants and Tigers are some of the wildlife found here. Kudremukh National Park : The park named after the peak, extends over three districts, Dakshin Kannada (South Kanara), Chickmaglur and parts of Udupi and stretches between Narasimha Parvatha (in Sringeri Taluk) in the north to the Jamalabad Fort (in Belthangady Taluk) in the south. The park is divided into four ranges Kudremukh, Kerekatte, Kalsa, Shimoga. The park with an area of 600.32 sq.kms is 1,894.3 meters above sea level and is rich in iron ore deposits. Country's largest Iron ore mining company, Kudremukh Iron Ore Company (KIOCL) is situated within the park area. The park is cool and salubrious round the year, but during monsoon from June to September, there is heavy rainfall. There is a wide variety of flora and fauna in the park.

    Kalahatti Falls : Approx 10 km from Kemmanagundi, and also known as 'Kalahasti Falls', the water here cascades down from 122 m from the top of Chandra Drona Hill to flow before the Veerabhaddreshwar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Hebbe Falls : An 8 Km trek from Kemmangundi, along a steep and arrow path, leads you to Hebbe Falls. Surrounded by dense forests and coffee plantations, the water gushes down from 165 metres in two stages to form 'Dodda Hebbe' (big falls) & Chikka Hebbe (small falls).
