Description: | The Bangalore Palace was built by the then King of Mysore, Chamaraja Wodeyar. He bought the land from Rev. Garret and build a majestic palace on it, in 1884. The architecture represents Tudor style. The construction of this palace is inspired by the Windsor Castle of England. The palace is situated right in the heart of the city, and is surrounded by very beautiful gardens. It once covered a vast open area that has been reduced today.
The palace, which is spread across an area of 430 acres and is situated amidst wonderful gardens, is famous for its elegant woodwork, paintings and carvings. This palace has fortified towers with Gothic windows, which adds to its regal charm. There is an exquisite door panel that leads to the grandiose settings inside. The interiors comprise of awesome floral motifs, mouldings, cornices and relief paintings on the ceilings. |
